John Champion

John Champion has had a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. John currently serves as the VP of IT at XLMedia PLC since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as Adjunct Faculty at Capella University since October 2006. John also held positions such as Vice President of Infrastructure & Operations at Compass Group USA from May 2017 to August 2021, Chief Information Officer at High Point University from September 2013 to May 2017, and Chief Information Officer at Queens University of Charlotte from September 2011 to September 2013. John has also worked as Director of Technical Operations and Planning at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from September 2008 to September 2011. Before transitioning to the IT field, they worked as a Solutions Architect & Project Management Consultant at ChampSolutions from 1998 to 2010. Additionally, they have held roles as Information Technology Analyst at Oakland University from 2002 to 2003 and Technology Specialist at Walsh College from 2000 to 2002. Prior to these positions, they worked as an Elementary School Teacher and Varsity Coach at Petoskey and Warren Woods Public Schools from August 1998 to December 2000.

John Champion has a Master's degree from Walsh College, with a focus on Business Information Technology which they obtained from 2000 to 2002. John also holds a Bachelor's degree in Education, with a concentration in Mathematics and Child Development, from Central Michigan University where they studied from 1993 to 1998. Additionally, John has obtained several certifications including ITIL Foundations in 2016, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) in 2015, PMP (Project Management Professional) from the Project Management Institute in 2011, as well as certifications in Project Management, Six Sigma Green Belt, and Business Process Management from various institutions in the same year.
