Kazuma Gunning

Co-Founder and Principal Navigation Engineer at Xona Space Systems

Kazuma Gunning has a diverse work experience in the aerospace and engineering fields. Kazuma co-founded Xona Space Systems in 2019, where they currently serve as the Principal Navigation Engineer. Prior to that, Kazuma worked as a Doctoral Student at Stanford University from 2015 to 2021. At Stanford, they conducted research and completed their doctoral studies. Before joining Stanford, Kazuma worked at Booz Allen Hamilton as a GNSS Modeling and Simulation Engineer from 2013 to 2015. In this role, they led the development of simulation infrastructure and developed automation tools for GNSS hardware. Additionally, Kazuma gained research experience as a Research Assistant at Stanford University from 2012 to 2013. Kazuma'sresearch focused on investigating the effects of jamming on GPS receivers and presenting findings to the FAA and Institute of Navigation. Overall, Kazuma has demonstrated expertise in navigation engineering, simulation development, and research in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

Kazuma Gunning pursued their education at Stanford University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from 2008 to 2012. Kazuma then continued at Stanford for their Master of Science (MS) in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, which they completed between 2012 and 2013. Kazuma's academic journey extended further as they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering, completing it from 2016 to 2021 at Stanford University.
