Staff Research Engineer at Xona Space Systems

Thyagaraja Marathe has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Thyagaraja recently joined Xona Space Systems as a Staff Research Engineer in 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Rx Networks Inc., where they held the position of Senior Research Engineer from 2017 to 2021. In this role, they developed a GNSS high accuracy corrections service and conducted various experiments and evaluations related to satellite orbit, satellite clock, ionosphere, and troposphere corrections.

Before joining Rx Networks Inc., Thyagaraja Marathe worked at the University of Calgary, where they served as a Post Doctoral Scholar from 2016 to 2017. Thyagaraja also worked as a Graduate Assistant (Research) from 2013 to 2016, contributing to research projects and assisting with data collection and equipment operation. Thyagaraja briefly served as a Community Adviser (Community-Building) from October to December 2015.

Prior to their academic roles, Marathe had an extensive tenure at Accord Software & Systems Pvt. Ltd, starting as a Systems Engineer in 2005 and progressing to the roles of Senior Systems Engineer, Project Leader in GNSS Technology and Embedded Systems, and Project Leader in GNSS Technology and Aerospace Engineering.

Thyagaraja Marathe has an extensive education history. From 1996 to 1999, they attended Anugraha Eng Med School, where they did not obtain a specific degree. Following this, from 1999 to 2001, Marathe enrolled in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire, where they completed their PUC degree.

Moving forward, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, studying there from 2001 to 2005. To further their education, they attended Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, from 2009 to 2011, earning a Master of Science degree.

Marathe continued their academic journey at the University of Calgary, starting in 2013 and graduating in 2016, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geomatics Engineering. During this time, they also held the position of PhD Candidate in Geomatics Engineering from 2014 to 2016.

Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including "Organize yourself as a remote worker or self-employed" from Coursera in October 2021, "Mindshift: Break Through Obstacles to Learning and Discover Your Hidden Potential" from Coursera in July 2021, "Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects" from Coursera (McMaster University, University of California San Diego) in January 2021, "GPS: An Introduction to Satellite Navigation, with an interactive Worldwide Laboratory using Smartphones" from Coursera (Stanford University) in December 2014, and "Certified ScrumMaster" from the Scrum Alliance in November 2017.
