Derek Helwig

Derek Helwig has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Derek began their career as a Producer at CNN in 2015 and later worked as a Story Producer and Producer at VICE Media, LLC. In 2016, Derek held the position of Supervising Producer at Nickelodeon and Supervising Story Producer at VICE Media. Derek also worked briefly as a Producer at We Are The Mighty. In 2017, Derek joined Zagat and Rabbit Films Ltd as a Producer before working at Stafford Multimedia as a Manager. From 2018, they served as a Lecturer in Documentary Production at Chapman University. Currently, Derek works at Xpedition in various roles including SVP of Unscripted Development and Vice President of Unscripted Development & Production.

Derek Helwig holds an MA in International Conflict Studies from King's College London and a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University. Derek completed their high school education at Christian Brothers High School.
