Toshiaki Goto is the Executive GM of HR and General Administration at Yamaha. Toshiaki has over ten years of experience in marketing and development, including five years as the Director of Marketing and Development at Guitar Center. At Guitar Center, Toshiaki led a multi-unit national marketing strategy that resulted in sustained growth of Guitar Center Lessons (rebadged from GC Studios) to become the most successful service-based initiative in Guitar Center’s 52 year history and the largest chain of private music lessons in the United States.
Under Toshiaki’s leadership, the Marketing and Development team at Guitar Center crafted a comprehensive marketing strategy that included digital and social media, sponsorships, and events, resulting in rapid new customer acquisition. Toshiaki also drove 3 million unique, quality consumers to retail stores yearly, resulting in additional engagement streams and $250 million in new revenue for Guitar Center.
In addition to their work at Guitar Center, Toshiaki has also prospected, pitched, and formed B-B alliances with large consumer brands (Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, et al) resulting in rapid market penetration, co-branding, and cross-promotion. Their specialties include retail marketing, e-commerce, b2c sales, systems and coaching, POP elements, visual layout, team management, channel development, consumer experience management, new business development, brand merchandising, multi-tasking, new product introduction, conceptual thinking, sell-through optimization, operations systems development, content / curriculum development, field training, team building, procurement, and event planning.
