Sam Willis has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering, graphic and web design. Sam'smost recent position was as a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) at Yapily, where they played a key role in maintaining and improving business applications using Vue.js, Nuxt, Vuex, and TypeScript. Sam contributed to the frontend architecture by planning longer-term goals and promoting the adoption of TypeScript and reusability. Sam also developed new components for the internal design system and collaborated with UX designers to enhance application designs. Furthermore, they implemented design tokens and introduced Communities of Practice, setting up a Frontend Knowledge CoP.
Prior to Yapily, Sam worked as a graphic designer, digital designer, and frontend developer at Sam Willis Creative, where they not only created code snippets for the open-source community but also carried out a re-branding project for Ronald Masters Hair & Beauty. This experience allowed him to gain client communication skills and understand the importance of time management.
Before joining Yapily and Sam Willis Creative, Sam served as a Senior UX Engineer and Frontend Developer at Mortgage Advice Bureau, a Frontend Developer at Linney, and a Frontend Developer at Senior Internet Ltd. Sam'sresponsibilities at these companies involved developing frontend solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Additionally, Sam worked as a Web Designer and Trainee Web Designer at Sandicliffe Motor Group, where they gained early experience in web design.
Through their diverse roles and experiences, Sam Willis has developed a strong skill set in software engineering, frontend development, graphic design, and web design.
Sam Willis attended George Spencer School and 6th Form from 2009 to 2011, where they obtained A Levels in ICT, Media, and English Language. Sam then attended the University of Derby from 2011 to 2014, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Media Studies.
