Gertjan Tijms has worked in a variety of roles throughout their career. In 2005, they began working as a Project Manager for The Coca-Cola Company, where they implemented Total Quality Management principles and The Coca-Cola Quality System. In 2007, they moved to White Yellow Cross hospital | Sint Maarten as a Project Manager. In 2008, they worked as Business Development for Grontmij, and in 2009 they worked as Strategy and Business Development for Claude. In 2010, they joined TBWA as Strategy and Innovation, and in 2011 they worked for the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) as Government Affairs. In 2013, they became Director of START Disrupt and Director of Strategy and Innovation at TBWA\\Worldwide, and in 2018 they became Co-Owner Char Line & #FIVE at Char Line asado+bar. In 2021, they worked as a Marketing Consultant, and in 2022 they are currently working as Marketing Director for YAS MicroInsurance.

Gertjan Tijms has an extensive education history. From 2004 to 2008, they attended the Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Technology Management. From 2008 to 2009, they attended the University of Groningen, where they obtained a BA in Strategy and Innovation and Marketing Research. Finally, from 2009 to 2011, they attended the University of Groningen, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.BA) in Business Administration, Strategy and Innovation.
