Luuk Abels

Luuk Abels has extensive experience as an Integration Consultant, specializing in API management, integration technology, and identity management. Luuk has worked for various companies, including Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, Yenlo, Staatsbosbeheer, Generali, Wageningen UR (University & Research centre), Mercedes-Benz NL, NedTrain, and CHECK-IT.

At Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, Luuk currently holds the position of Lead Integration Consultant, where they are responsible for integrating systems and providing technical expertise.

During their time at Yenlo, Luuk worked as an Integration Consultant, utilizing their expertise in hybrid and cloud-based iPaaS technologies. Luuk was recognized for their proficiency in multiple leading integration vendors such as WSO2, Boomi, MuleSoft, and Microsoft Azure.

While at Staatsbosbeheer, Luuk was responsible for designing and building integration solutions using WSO2ESB services, particularly for synchronizing observations from foresters to a national database.

At Generali, Luuk supported the Integration development team by optimizing WSO2ESB services for insurance policy requests and redesigning complex archiving flows.

During their tenure at Wageningen UR (University & Research Centre), Luuk played a crucial role in professionalizing application integration, setting up a dockerized ESB environment using WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus and integrating various software applications.

Earlier in their career, Luuk worked as a Graduate Student at Mercedes-Benz NL and as First Line Support at NedTrain. Luuk also gained international experience as an Intern at CHECK-IT in Xiamen, China, where they collaborated with Chinese students on projects for international companies.

Luuk Abels has a diverse educational background. In 2004, they began their studies at Landstede MBO where they pursued a degree in Telecom ICT Engineering (MK-Tel/ICT) and completed it in 2008.

Afterwards, in 2009, they enrolled at Windesheim where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business IT & Management in 2014.

More recently, in 2016, Luuk attended HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) for a Masterclass in Enterprise Architecture.

In addition to their formal education, Luuk Abels has obtained several certifications. In 2007, they achieved the CCNA 1- Networking Basics certification from Cisco. In 2010, they earned the Prince2 Foundation certification from APM Group, as well as the IT Service Management Foundation (based on ITIL) certification from EXIN. Finally, in 2018, they obtained the Professional Scrum Master I certification from Scrum.org.
