Ryan Gurney

Ryan Gurney, Operating Partner at YL Ventures, provides ideation support to up-and-coming Israeli cybersecurity entrepreneurs, assists the firm in vetting candidates and concepts in the pipeline, and amplifies our value-add services to portfolio companies. Before this role, Ryan served as YL Ventures’ CISO-in-Residence where he supported the firm’s due diligence process and provided valuable guidance and feedback to the firm’s portfolio companies.

Ryan applies his 15+ years of industry experience and deep understanding of today’s security landscape to advise teams pre and post-investment, including identifying greenfield opportunities and helping them understand customer needs and the challenges CISOs confront on a daily basis. He leverages his unique customer-centric and perspective to help the firm’s portfolio companies remove communication roadblocks with customers, refine their positioning, and validate their go-to-market strategies.

Prior to YL Ventures, Ryan was the Head of Information Security at Looker, a business intelligence software and big data analytics platform acquired by Google. Previously, he served as Looker’s Chief Security Officer, and Vice President of Information Security at Zendesk, held Security Engineering leadership roles at Engine Yard and eBay, managed IT organizations and led large consulting engagements with PwC.
