Ilari Vaalavirta

Ilari Vaalavirta serves as the Executive Director of the Healthcare Business at Yliopiston Apteekki since October 2024, with P&L responsibility and membership in the Group Executive Management Team. Previously, Vaalavirta held the position of Vice President at Mediq from July 2017 to August 2023, overseeing the Hospital Solutions business across the Nordics. Additional experience includes serving as CEO of Mediq Suomi Oy from June 2010 to January 2021 and as a Vice President at Oriola Corporation, managing significant business growth in the Healthcare Trade sector. Vaalavirta has also contributed to the medtech sector as a Board Member at Sailab - MedTech Finland and has accumulated extensive experience in various roles within Instrumentarium Corporation and ABB Asea Skandia Oy. Educational qualifications include an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Tampere University of Technology and participation in multiple professional development programs at various institutions, including Tilburg University.
