Ismo Tiainen

Ismo Tiainen has extensive experience in environmental governance and international affairs, currently serving as Director General in the Department of Ministerial Governance and International Affairs at the Ministry of the Environment of Finland since November 2015. Prior to this role, Ismo Tiainen held several key positions within the Ministry of the Environment from June 2010 to October 2015, including Director General for the Unit for International and EU Affairs. Ismo Tiainen's career also includes significant contributions to the Finnish Environment Institute, where responsibilities spanned from Chief of Directors Office to various roles in international consulting and research engineering. Notably, Ismo Tiainen provided senior advisory services at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry during a brief leave from the Finnish Environment Institute. Educational qualifications encompass a Master of Science in water technology and hydrology from Helsinki University of Technology, complemented by various management and emergency training programs from recognized institutions.
