Joona Lehtomäki is a Senior Specialist at the Ministry of the Environment of Finland since June 2020, focusing on biodiversity research and strategy implementation. Previously, Joona worked as a Science Advisor at the Academy of Finland from August 2017 to June 2020, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from February 2016 to July 2017, concentrating on modeling approaches for nature conservation and ecosystem services. Joona's experience also includes postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki from 2008 to 2016, with a focus on ecological decision-analysis in boreal forest ecosystems, and research roles at the Finnish Environment Institute and Finnish Environment Center. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Conservation Biology and an MSc in Environmental Biology from the University of Helsinki.
