Marjo Nummelin

Environment Councellor at Ministry of the Environment of Finland

Marjo Nummelin is an experienced professional in international climate policy and environmental negotiations, currently serving as an Environment Counsellor at the Ministry of the Environment of Finland since September 2016. Nummelin has played a key role in EU and international climate policy, focusing on EU climate legislation and negotiations, including participation in the Finnish team for the UNFCCC. Prior to this role, Nummelin worked as a Counsellor for Environment and Climate Change at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU from 2011 to 2016, negotiating essential EU climate and environmental legislation. Earlier experience includes a long tenure at the Ministry of the Environment where Nummelin served as Senior Adviser from 1996 to 2011, leading international climate change negotiations, and positions at the European Commission addressing international environmental issues. Nummelin holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Helsinki, specializing in English, communications, and social and political sciences.
