Brent Birchler is the current Boys Camp Director at YMCA CAMP OCKANICKON INC. Brent has been with the company since January 2005, and in their current position since December 2015. Prior to that, they were the Assistant Boys Resident Camp Director from January 2002 to December 2004. Brent has also held the positions of General Counselor / Boating Director from January 1998 to December 2002, and Group Services Facilitator from January 1994 to December 2004.

Brent has a long history with the YMCA Camp Ockanickon, and has taken on greater responsibility over the years as he’s proven himself to be a reliable and hardworking leader. In their current role, they are responsible for hiring and supervising a direct staff of 50 team members, as well as all operational duties related to running the boys camp. This includes managing a budget of $620,000 and serving on the Buildings and Grounds Committee advising on capital investments. Brent also takes great pride in implementing training for 200+ staff members annually.

Some of Brent’s key strengths include their ability to motivate and mentor staff, as well as setting an example worth following that is grounded in hard work, selflessness, and personal integrity. Thanks to their dedication and leadership, YMCA Camp Ockanickon has been able to thrive despite some challenges, such as the breaking of dams and the loss of lakes.

Brent Birchler has a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Forest Resource Management from West Virginia University. Brent also has certification from the YMCA in the YMCA of USA Organizational Leader and certification from the American Camp Association in Accreditations Standards Visitor for American Camp Association.
