Amy Thomas-Larsen

Healthy Living Director- Riverside Community Center at YMCA of Greater Kansas City

Amy Thomas-Larsen has extensive experience in the fitness industry. Amy began their career as an Aerobic and Yoga Instructor at the Michigan Athletic Club from 1993 to 2001. Amy then worked as a Group Fitness Instructor at various organizations, including Jackson National Life, Meridian Township, and the University Club of Michigan State University, from 2001 to 2012. In 2012, they became a Group Fitness Instructor at Gragg Advertising. Amy also served as the Owner of Big AL Fitness, LLC starting in 2001. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Group Fitness Instructor at Pro Athlete, Inc. Amy then joined Plus One Health Management Inc as a Group Exercise Instructor in 2015. In 2017, they became a Group Walk Instructor at EXOS. Currently, Amy holds the role of Healthy Living Director at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City since January 2021, where they also work as a Group Exercise Instructor.

Amy Thomas-Larsen completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, specializing in K-12 instrumental and vocal music, from Culver-Stockton College from 1986 to 1989. Prior to that, they attended Trenton High School from 1980 to 1984, where they pursued a general studies curriculum. In addition to their academic qualifications, Amy has obtained various certifications in fitness, including SilverSneakers Classic, Balanced Body Barre, Brains and Balance Past 60, First Aid, CPR, AED, YogaFit Seniors, Coaching Certification, YogaFit Levels 1-3, Group Fitness Instructor, Turbo Kick, Personal Trainer/Fitness Counselor, Child Abuse Prevention, and Aerobic Instructor Certification, throughout the years.
