Candace Maxian has been working in the field of education for over 15 years. Candace started their career as a Business and Marketing Education Teacher at Middletown High School. For five years, they advised DECA: An Association of Marketing Students, a co-curricular program that competed in state and international leadership conferences. Under their leadership, the team won 32 out of 38 awards in state competition. Candace also wrote and received three MBNA grants totaling $21,000. In recognition of their work, they were awarded DECA Advisor of the Year.
In 2016, Candace left their teaching position to become a Presenter for the GOLD Leadership Development Program at SUNY Geneseo. For two years, they presented on various topics related to leadership development, including goal setting, leadership communication, and leadership lessons from The Wizard of Oz.
In October 2016, Candace began working as the Assistant Director of Public Engagement for the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. In this role, they were responsible for connecting the college with government, communities, and non-profits.
Candace is currently serving as the Secretary for the YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County. In this role, they are responsible for providing administrative support to the organization and its members.
Candace Maxian has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Long Island University's C.W. Post Campus in International Business, as well as a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Delaware. Candace also has a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Communications from LIU Post.
