Kate Kennedy serves as the Senior Director of State Networks and Communication at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee since July 2019. Concurrently, Kate has held the position of Assistant Director at UTK- Center for Leadership and Service since May 2012, focusing on student education and engagement in community service. Previous roles include Senior Neighborhoods Director at the Governor's Foundation for Health and Wellness from May 2017 to June 2019 and Program Advisor for Student Activities at the University of Tennessee, where responsibilities included advising student organizations and coordinating events. Prior experience also encompasses serving as Assistant Hall Director and Resident Assistant/Director at Centre College. Kate holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Electronic Media from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Centre College.

The YMCA has been a part of Nashville and Middle Tennessee since 1875. Today, they serve a membership base in excess of 200,000 through 15 membership centers. They also provide before- and after-school care at more than 120 locations, serving more than 5,500 children.
