Keith Akre

Keith Akre is a board member at YMCA of Rock River Valley and an adjunct professor at Rockford University. Keith previously worked as a portfolio manager at Midland States Bank and Northern Trust.

Keith Akre has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry. Keith began their career as a portfolio manager at Northern Trust in 2007. In this role, they managed investment portfolios for personal, trust, foundation, and endowment clients. Keith utilized equity, fixed income, real-assets, and absolute return products to construct fully diversified portfolios designed to fulfill specific client needs and goals.

In 2012, Keith Akre left Northern Trust to become a portfolio manager at Midland States Bank. In this role, they managed fully diversified investment portfolios for individual, trust, and institutional clients. Keith was also a member of the Trust Investment Committee, determining investment policy for the Wealth Management department as well as analyzing and selecting appropriate mutual funds, ETFs, and stocks for approved use.

Keith Akre left Midland States Bank in 2017 to become an adjunct professor at Rockford University, teaching investments and finance classes for the Adult Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (BSMS) program. Keith also became a board member at YMCA of Rock River Valley.

Keith Akre has an MBA in finance from Western Illinois University, a BBA in finance, French, and international business from Western Illinois University, and a certification in financial planning from the CFP Board. Keith also has a certification in chartered financial analyst from the CFA Institute and a certification in competent communicator from Toastmasters International.
