Helen Breña has extensive work experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in leadership roles within YMCA organizations. Helen served as the CEO of the YMCA of Southern Maine, where they supervised four branches and approximately 500 staff members. Prior to that, they were the Vice President of Finance and Management at Avesta Housing. Helen's earlier experience includes being the CFO and Senior VP Operations at the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, where they played a key role in overseeing successful financial strategies during the organization's bankruptcy.
Helen Breña obtained a Master's degree in Professional Accounting from the University of Hartford in 1987-1988. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Amherst College from 1982 to 1987. In addition, Helen is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Connecticut.
