Amy Tharpe Peterson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in leadership and community engagement. Currently serving as a Board Member and Co-Chair of Board Advancement at Oakland Zoo since January 2023, Amy also holds the position of Past Board Member (Emeritas), Strategic Planning Co-Chair, and Foundation Committee member at YMCA of the East Bay since August 2014. With a strong background in social responsibility as Director at the Port of Oakland and prior board membership at Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, Amy has demonstrated a commitment to impactful service. Amy's previous experience includes roles as Director of Policy for the SF Mayor's Office of Housing and Project Manager for the Washington DC City Government. Additionally, Amy has contributed to the Fannie Mae Foundation as Director of the Knowledge Initiative. Educational achievements include a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, a Leadership Development Program Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, and a Certificate from the Black Management Accelerator Program at McKinsey & Company.
