YMCA of the North
Yohanis Shitta's work experience includes various roles at the YMCA of the North, starting in 2013. Their roles at the YMCA include Youth Development Staff, Youth Development Program Manager, Community Program Director, Outreach Manager, and Director of Community Development & Inclusion. They also worked as an Intern at the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board in 2018. Yohanis is currently working as the Operations Director at the YMCA of the North.
Yohanis Shitta earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Studies with a minor in Leadership from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where they attended from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Centennial Senior High School, graduating in 2014. Additionally, in June 2019, Yohanis obtained a certification in Basic First Aid and CPR from the YMCA.
YMCA of the North
The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities (YGTC) is a new YMCA association as of January 1, 2012. It is the result of an integration of the YMCA of Greater St. Paul (established in 1856) and the YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis (established in 1866) to enhance our ability to serve our community. Our cause and passion is to strengthen our communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are one of the largest nonprofit social service organizations in Minnesota and one of the largest Y associations in the United States. More than 220,000 members and participants are connected annually throughout the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin region with opportunities to be healthy, active, and engaged. We support our communities through 27 membership branches, seven resident camps, nearly a dozen day camps, and dozens of child care locations and youth development program sites. The Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the community's health and well-being, and provides opportunities to give back and support neighbors. The Y is for everyone. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to be healthy, welcomed, confident, connected, and secure.
