Cailean Osborne

Cailean Osborne has a diverse work experience history. Cailean currently works as a Researcher for The Linux Foundation since September 2022, and previously served as a PhD Research Intern at the same organization from June 2022 to September 2022. Prior to that, Cailean worked as a PhD Candidate in Social Data Science at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, starting in September 2021.

In 2020, Cailean held multiple roles, including International Policy Lead at the Centre for Data Ethics & Innovation in the UK government from January 2020 to August 2021, and International Policy Advisor for the NHSx COVID-19 Technology Unit from March 2020 to June 2020. Cailean also served as a UK Delegate for the Ad Hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence at Conseil de l'Europe from August 2020 to July 2021, and as a UK Delegate for the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence at OECD-OCDE from January 2020 to July 2021.

During their time as a graduate student, Cailean worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, from 2017 to 2019. Cailean also gained prior work experience as a Business Development Intern at Sumdog in 2017 and 2016, a Summer Intern at Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in 2015, and a Summer Intern at BBC in 2014.

Cailean Osborne began their education in 2013 at The University of Edinburgh, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in History. They completed their undergraduate studies in 2017 and then went on to attend the University of Oxford from 2017 to 2019, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in the field of Social Science of the Internet. Following this, they participated in an international exchange program at UC Santa Barbara from 2015 to 2016. Currently, Cailean is enrolled at the University of Oxford again, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social Data Science, which is expected to be completed by 2024.
