Karen Copenhaver has a diverse and extensive work experience. Karen currently serves as an Advisor for Non-Profits since 2019. Prior to this, they were a Counsel at The Linux Foundation and other not-for-profit organizations in 2018, and also served as Counsel at The Linux Foundation starting from 2007. Karen was a member of the Advisory Board at Design that Matters since 2006. From 2003 to 2021, they held the position of Board Member at the Center for Women & Enterprise. Karen was a Partner at Choate Hall & Stewart LLP from 2007 to 2017. Karen also worked as an Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Black Duck Software from 2004 to 2006. From 1994 to 2003, they were a Partner at Testa, Hurwitz & Thilbeault, LLP. Karen started their career as a Partner at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP from 1994 to 2001 and later became a Partner at Brown & Bain LLP from 1991 to 1994.

Karen Copenhaver obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Fine Arts from Dickinson College, where they studied from 1972 to 1976. Afterwards, they pursued further education at Penn State Dickinson Law, obtaining a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law from 1976 to 1979.
