Yoga Instructor And YFFR Ambassador at YogaShield® Yoga for First Responders® (YFFR)

Janine Mills is an experienced professional in education and training, currently serving as a Curriculum Developer at NorQuest College since January 2019. With a strong background in health and safety training, Janine also works as a Yoga Instructor and YFFR Ambassador at Yoga for First Responders, focusing on hosting classes for first responders. Holding multiple positions since April 2016, Janine trains AHS Peace Officers and frontline healthcare staff in various essential skills such as Tactical Communications and Non-violent Crisis Intervention. Janine has been a First Aid Instructor with both Western Canada Fire & First Aid Inc and the Canadian Red Cross since 2011, and previously served as a Community Peace Officer at the University of Alberta, managing law enforcement and emergency responses. Janine's educational credentials include a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma from Vancouver Community College, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the same institution.

YogaShield® Yoga for First Responders® (YFFR)

Yoga For First Responders is a 501C3 non profit that aims to bring a trauma sensitive yoga protocol specific to the culture of first responders. The yoga practice targets stress and secondary traumas that first responders face daily. The organization does this by teaching trainings to bring the exclusive protocol to every community and by teaching the protocol in departments, academies and other locations. Yoga For First Responders is the pioneering organization to focus on this population.
