Fareen Kassam

Fareen Kassam is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in IT, cybersecurity, and compliance law. Currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel for IT & Cybersecurity at York Region since August 2023, Fareen previously held senior legal positions at PointClickCare and OpenText, where responsibilities included managing compliance programs in accordance with data privacy regulations. As the Founder and Principal Lawyer at Fareen Law, the focus was on providing employment and immigration legal services in the Greater Toronto Area. Additional experience includes consulting roles with the Ontario Justice Education Network and legal advisory positions with the Toronto Catholic District School Board and KPMG International. Fareen holds an LL.B. from The University of Manchester, a J.D. from the University of Toronto, and a Diploma from BPP Law School, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo.
