Sophie Xu

Sophie Xu is a Design Technologist at York Region, where responsibilities include reviewing water and wastewater designs and assisting with contract drawings and tender documents. Previous roles in the same organization included Project Coordinator and Special Project Technologist, focusing on inflow and infiltration data analysis and strategic planning for municipalities, alongside improving I&I analysis processes and securing funding through award applications. Sophie holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where research centered on industrial water recovery and teaching assistant roles involved mentoring students and conducting AutoCAD workshops. Prior research experience includes positions at the University of Toronto and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, concentrating on various water recovery techniques and soil sample analyses.
