Carole Barnay

Carole Barnay has worked in various roles over the years, starting with their most recent position as a Data Governance Lead at Youi Insurance. Prior to that, they were a member of the NZ AI Forum and had a role as the Principal Advisor Information Privacy & Governance at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, where they played a significant role in the Hira Programme. Carole has also worked at Xero, where they served as a Data Use Officer and later as the Data Science Team Lead. Additionally, they were the Head of Analytics and Consulting (NZ) at Experian, worked as a Consultant Meteorologist, and served as a Meteorologist at both Mighty River Power and MetService. Carole has extensive experience in data management, analytics, and meteorology.

Carole Barnay earned a Bachelor of Science (1st class honors) degree in Physics from the University of Otago from 2003 to 2007. In 2008, they obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Meteorology from Victoria University of Wellington. Prior to that, they attended Otago Girls High School from 1998 to 2002. In addition to their formal education, Carole Barnay also holds a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, which they obtained in November 2023.
