Young Expert Programmes
Jouke Verstappen is an experienced professional in climate resilience and project management, currently serving as a Young Expert at Young Expert Programmes since November 2022. Previously, Jouke has been associated with Royal HaskoningDHV since September 2019, holding roles as an Expert in Climate Resilience and as part of the Digital Water Talent Programme. Jouke's experience also includes an internship focused on urban resilience in Myanmar at Arcadis from October 2018 to April 2019, and a position as a Research Interviewer at Wageningen Environmental Research in 2017. Additionally, Jouke worked as a field surveyor at CREM, contributing to sustainability efforts from September 2011 to May 2017. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in International Land and Water Management from Wageningen University & Research and a Bachelor's degree in Earth and Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, complemented by a pre-university education in Economy and Society from Het Fons Vitae Lyceum.

Young Expert Programmes
Professional coaching, capacity building training and work experience placement encouraging young professionals to start an international career in the water, agrofood and/or energy sectors. Young Expert Programmes, also known as YEP Programmes, aims to build expertise in the water, agrofood and renewable energy fields and create a young, refreshing, and inspiring international network. Whereas Dutch Young Experts are given the opportunity to gain relevant international experience through Dutch organisations operating in developing countries and emerging markets, non-Dutch Young Experts can acquire relevant work experience in an international environment with a Dutch organisation operating in their country. To achieve this, YEP Programmes offers financial support to Dutch organisations employing Young Experts for the realisation of international development aid and trade projects. By building sustainable relations and capacity as a network in the field of water, agrofood and renewable energy, together we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. YEP Programmes is an initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs carried out by the Netherlands Water Partnership, the Netherlands Food Partnership, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
