Sara Mertel

Chief Executive Officer at Young Mind Community Center

Sara Mertel currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Young Mind Community Center since January 2019 and has held the position of Chief Operating Officer at the Young Mind Center since 2016. Mertel's previous roles include faculty positions at Arizona State University from 2010 to 2016, where responsibilities encompassed lecturing and research in nonprofit leadership, community resources, and program evaluation. Mertel also has experience teaching middle school language arts and serving in various capacities within nonprofit organizations, including as Executive Director at All-Star Kids Tutoring. Mertel holds a Ph.D. and an M.Ed. from Arizona State University, and dual bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Global Studies from UC Santa Barbara.
