Dr. Patrick J Burke

Dr. Patrick J Burke has a strong background in leadership positions in various non-profit organizations. Dr. Patrick J started their career as the Director of Threshold in 2003, where they served until 2006. Dr. Patrick J then moved on to become the CEO of Simon Communities of Ireland, where they worked from 2006 to 2011. Currently, Dr. Burke serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Youth Work Ireland, a position they have held since 2011.

Dr. Patrick J Burke completed their BA in Philosophy and Politics at University College Dublin from 1988 to 1991. Dr. Patrick J then pursued a S.T.B. in Philosopy/Theology at Angelicum University from 1991 to 1994. In 1995-1996, they obtained their MSoc in Sociology at Instituto Pedro De Cordoba. Dr. Patrick J Burke furthered their education at the University of Limerick, where they earned a Dip PM in Project Management from 2002 to 2003. Lastly, they completed their PhD in Governance at Queen's University Belfast from 2007 to 2011.

Youth Work Ireland

Youth Work Ireland is the largest national youth organisation in Ireland. We are a national federal organisation with 22 member youth services who have youth clubs and projects that are which are deeply rooted in communities the length and breadth of Ireland. Collectively Youth Work Ireland provide over 100,000 young people in 400 communities with a safe space in their community where they can have fun, do something that matters and be heard. Young people from every background have a safe space to belong in their youth club, programme or project where they can develop friendships, have a listening ear from trained professionals and get information on a number of issues. They participate in creative arts, music, media, sports, learning (both informal and formal) and a range of targeted projects. Youth Work Ireland celebrated our 50th birthday in 2012.
