Onkar D.

Onkar D. is an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience in AI and data-driven technologies. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at YouTube, Onkar oversees Shorts Discovery since October 2024. Prior to this, Onkar was the Head of AI & Data at Turing.com from September 2022 to September 2024, managing a global team focused on AI algorithms and data infrastructure to enhance product experiences. Onkar also contributed as an Academic Board Member at Turing College, an online AI institution, between 2023 and 2024. A former Director of AI/ML Engineering at LinkedIn, Onkar advanced from an entry-level data scientist to director within 7.5 years, previously holding positions at Technicolor, Yahoo!, and Insight Data Science. Onkar holds a PhD and MS in Computational Math & Statistics from Stanford University and a dual Bachelor and Master of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
