Daniel Sherwood

Daniel Sherwood has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Daniel is currently working as a Software Engineering Manager at YouView TV Limited, where they are responsible for developing middleware for Set Top Boxes (STBs) running on Embedded Linux. Daniel focuses on upgrading the WebKit based browser on the STBs to improve the UI and enable features like MPEG DASH on iPlayer.

Prior to their current role, Daniel worked as a Software Engineer at YouView TV Limited from 2014 to 2020. Daniel also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Samsung Electronics Research Institute in 2013. Before that, they held the position of Lead Software Engineer at MAPS Technology from 2012 to 2013. During their time at MAPS, they also worked as a C++ Programmer, developing cross-platform C++ applications using Qt and agile methodologies.

Daniel's earlier experience includes working as an Engineer at Roke Manor Research from 2001 to 2003. There, they designed and delivered image processing hardware and software for various projects, including sports tracking systems and immigration control systems.

Daniel Sherwood obtained a Ph.D. in Particle Physics from Brunel University London, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned an MSci degree in Physics with Astronomy from Durham University, attending from 1996 to 2000.

Daniel obtained certifications in blockchain platforms, decentralized applications (Dapps), smart contracts, and blockchain basics from Coursera in 2021. In 2020, they completed certifications in distributed computing with Spark SQL, data wrangling, analysis, and AB testing with SQL, SQL for Data Science, convolutional neural networks, deep learning specialization, sequence models, structuring machine learning projects, improving deep neural networks, neural networks and deep learning, and machine learning, all from Coursera.

Daniel also holds certifications in widget UI with Qt and Qt Essentials from The Qt Company, which they obtained in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Additionally, they are a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) certified by Scrum Alliance, having obtained their certification in February 2021.
