Karthik Ranganathan is the Co-Founder and CTO of Yugabyte Inc. Karthik has previously worked as a member of technical staff at Nutanix, a technical lead at Facebook, a software engineer at Netsuite Inc, and a software design engineer at Microsoft Corporation. Karthik began their career as a software developer at Optimization Alternatives Inc. in 2002.

Karthik has worked on a diverse range of challenging problems throughout their career. At Facebook, they worked on making HBase a reliable, zero-data loss store, and also helped out with various use cases that leveraged HBase such as Facebook Messages, Search Indexing, Hive, and a generic Key Value Store. Karthik was also part of the team that built Cassandra for Facebook Inbox Search. In addition, they looked into improving the end to end performance of search (including rendering on the browser) and helped improve time to user interaction quite a bit.

At Microsoft Corporation, Karthik worked as a software design engineer. Karthik's work involved designing and implementing software that meets or exceeds customer expectations while maintaining high standards for code quality and delivery timelines.
