Yukon Seed & Restoration Inc

Yukon Seed and Restoration Inc. is a Yukon First Nation owned company that specializes in restoration and reclamation of disturbed sites using locally sourced native seed and plant materials. We find creative and custom-designed solutions to reduce impacts on ecological and socio-political systems. Our partnership affirms the connection between people and the planet through collaboration connecting scientists and indigenous knowledge keepers. At the center of our work is your project. Our focus is to design, implement, and manage a system that addresses the unique needs of the environment and people, who are at the core of the project. By working closely with First Nations, landowners, developers, and regulatory agencies, we balance the needs of our clients and communities to deliver sustainable, long lasting, and resilient solutions that lift impacted ecosystems into better health and towards self-sufficiency. Reclamation is an ever-changing process. We employ the principles of adaptive management and reciprocity to develop site specific prescriptions that incorporate indigenous and scientific knowledge to develop tailored solutions. We strive to break down barriers for all members of our communities, and to seek their involvement. We are led by youth and elders, and seek every occasion to exchange knowledge and share opportunity with the people whose land our projects take place on. Our goals: 1) Restoring disturbed and damaged lands to thriving ecosystems through a process of engagement, assessment, planning, implementation, and management. 2) Achieving successful results through the informed and respectful use of native plant materials. 3) Establishing a seed bank of native species and carrying out seed collection within the Yukon.
