Alex Kuhns has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. They started their career as an Education Specialist at Lighthouse Youth Services in 2008 and later became a PRN Therapist at the same organization from 2013 to 2014. In 2010, Alex worked as a Certified Teacher at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, where they designed and implemented academic programming for school-aged children. From 2011 to 2014, they served as an Adjunct Instructor at Cincinnati State, teaching College Success Strategy courses and participating in strategic planning activities. They also held positions at Cincinnati Public Schools, serving as President of the Board of Education from 2012 to 2015, and at Western Hills University High as the Boys Varsity Soccer Coach from 2017 to 2021. In 2015, Alex became the Executive Director of UpSpring, a position they held until 2022. They then moved on to become the Chief Operating Officer at Shelterhouse, a role they held from 2022 until 2023. Most recently, they have taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer at the YWCA Greater Cincinnati.
Alex Kuhns' education history includes a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College (2010-2011), a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Social Studies Education from Ohio University (2003-2007), an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati (2001-2003), and a High School Diploma in Orchestra from Walnut Hills High School (1997-2001). Additionally, they have obtained certifications as a Professional Counselor from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board (July 2013), as a Certified Secondary Teacher from the Ohio Department of Education (June 2013), as a Licensed Minister from the Universal Life Church Monastery (2012), and as a Certified Pre-Kindergarten Teacher from the Ohio Department of Education (June 2005).
