George Asmerom has over 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering. From 2018 to present, they have been the Principal Mechanical Engineer (Head of Mechanical Engineering) at ZAP Surgical Systems, Inc. Prior to that, they were the Principal Mechanical Engineer, Advance Development (Head of Linac System) at ViewRay, Inc. from 2017 to 2018. From 2007 to 2017, they were the Principal Mechanical Engineer (Lead of Mechanical Engineering of Advance Development) at Accuray, where they developed precision mechanisms for robotic Radiosurgery, such as MLC (multi-leaf collimator), Iris robotic Collimator, Linear accelerator, and x-ray target. From 1999 to 2007, they were the Senior Mechanical Engineer and Optomechanics at Electroglas, where they were responsible for the majority of the 300 mm Wafer Prober and positioning robot. George also performed complex machine layout of a 4-axis gantry motion system and opt-mechanics, and solved complex thermal and structural issues through analysis and proof of concepts early in the development phase.

George Asmerom holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University.
