Mwiya M. has had a long and varied career in the finance and investment industry. Starting in 2008, they interned in Citibank Zambia's Corporate Banking Division, where they conducted research and due diligence. In 2012, they became an Analyst at African Life Financial Services, where they were responsible for researching listed equities, fixed income, private equity, and property, as well as macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. In 2014, they co-founded Thebe Investment Management, where they served as the Managing Partner and CEO. Thebe Investment Management is the owner and developer of Nkwashi, a $1.5 billion mixed use real estate development in Lusaka, Zambia. In 2018, they became Co-Founder of Frontier Capital Partners and a Member of the Advisory Board for the Charter Cities Institute. In 2019, they became a Non Executive Director for Zazu Africa. In 2020, they co-founded Explorer School, a 21st century school without borders. In 2022, they will become General Partner and Chairperson of Akili Ventures and an Independent Director for Prospero.

Mwiya M. completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration: Finance, with a minor in Economics from Richmond, The American International University in London from 2006 to 2010. Mwiya then went on to complete a Master of Science (MSc) in International Business Management from the University of Surrey in 2011.
