Manuel L. B. Palacio has worked for various companies since 1997. Manuel L. B. began their career as an Instructor at the University of the Philippines in 1997, then moved on to become a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota in 1999. In 2003, they interned at Intel Corporation, where they completed a study on the adhesion of thin films and patterned semiconductor interconnect structures. From 2005 to 2013, they worked at The Ohio State University as a Research Associate Engineer / Senior Scientist, where they conducted research studies on the mechanical and tribological behavior of materials and collaborated with faculty in the submission of grant proposals to national funding agencies. In 2013, they joined Western Digital as a Senior Staff Engineer, where they executed design of experiments (DOEs) on the thermo-mechanical characterization of magnetic head devices and head-disk interface tribology, solved product issue by conducting a failure analysis, and drove laboratory retrofit project to completion. From 2017 to 2019, they worked at California Brazing as a Quality Inspection/Metrology. During this time, they also worked at Covalent Metrology as an Engineer / Consultant and at Cal Science and Technology Univ, Emerging Technology Program as a Trainee. In 2020, they began working at Zealogics Inc as an SEM Test Engineer (ASML contractor).
Manuel L. B. Palacio obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota between 1999 and 2004. Manuel L. B. also obtained their Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines between 1993 and 1997.
