Thomas Avasalu

Thomas Avasalu is an experienced legal professional specializing in intellectual property (IP) with a career spanning over 28 years. Currently serving as Deputy IP General Counsel at Zeekr Technology Europe since January 2016, Thomas focuses on IP matters following the appointment of a General Counsel. Prior to this, Thomas held various roles at CEVT, including responsibilities for patents, trademarks, and IP strategy. A significant tenure at AB Volvo from 1997 to 2016 saw Thomas operate as Site Manager for Group Intellectual Property, overseeing patent activities across multiple global offices and contributing to the establishment of a patent department during the acquisition of Renault Trucks. Earlier experience includes a position as Patent Examiner at the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, obtained in 1994.
