David Basile

David Basile has a diverse range of work experience in the aviation industry. David started their career as a CAD Concept Aircraft Design Engineer at Condor Aviation in 2012. From there, they worked as an Electronic Engineer on a work experience basis at Melitech Design Ltd. In 2013, they joined Airbus Group as a Control Modelling Engineer before transitioning to the role of Reactive Support In-Service Engineer, where they focused on international communication and problem-solving with airline engineering teams. In 2014, Basile worked as an Aerospace Engineering Consultant at Woodford Engineering Consultancy (UK) Ltd. David then joined The Ann Savva Group as the Sheffield O2 Academy Head of Promotions. In 2015, they joined QinetiQ as an Aeronautical Engineer, handling Test & Evaluation, Avionics & Mission Systems, and Electronic Warfare across military and civilian aircraft platforms. David also served as CEO Support & Strategic Customer Engagement. Basile briefly worked at QinetiQ ETPS as a Project Management & Flight Operations professional before joining Virgin Atlantic as an Aeronautical Engineer in 2017. In this role, they managed fleet safety, programs, modifications, and handled specific issues related to the 787 Trent 1000 and ex-Air Berlin aircraft. Basile then moved to British Airways as both the Boeing Fleet Technical Engineering Manager and later as the Airbus Fleet Technical Engineering Manager. Most recently, in 2022, they joined ZeroAvia as the Director of Customer Support, where they focus on developing zero-emissions hydrogen-electric propulsion systems for aircraft and implementing global customer support strategies.

David Basile attended Sheffield Hallam University from 2011 to 2015, where they earned a Second-class honours, upper division (2:1) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. In 2017, they completed the ASTEC - Air Systems Test & Evaluation Course at ETPS - Empire Test Pilots School, specializing in Flight Test. Additionally, in the same year, they attained a certification from the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH). In 2013, David obtained a Private Pilots License from Hull Aero Club, focusing on Aviation. Lastly, in 2019, they completed the Airbus A380 Type Course at the British Airways Global Learning Academy, furthering their expertise in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering.
