Carmen G. is an experienced professional currently serving as the Senior Policy and Project Officer for International Protection at Settlement Services International since March 2017 and as a Sessional Tutor in Community Work at UNSW since September 2019. Prior to these roles, Carmen engaged in various positions, including as a Casework Standards and Principles Project contributor at Settlement Services International, where principles and standards for casework practice were developed for the NSW Settlement Partnership, and as a Child Protection Consultant at Relief International, enhancing protection in relief programs. Additionally, Carmen held leadership roles at the Australian Red Cross, managing teams within the Community Detention and Migrant Support Programs, and contributed to gender issues in the HIV/AIDS National Strategic Plan while working with UN Women. Educational qualifications include a Masters of Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development from The Australian National University, a degree in Gender and Social Development from SOAS University of London, and dual bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Development Studies from UNSW.
