Nick Downes

Nick Downes has extensive work experience in various engineering and manufacturing roles. Most recently, they served as the Director of Stack Design at Zinc8 Energy Solutions starting in June 2022. Prior to that, they were the Director of NPI and Manufacturing at Acuva Technologies from May 2019 to June 2022. Nick also worked as the Mechanical Engineering Manager at Pacific Insight Electronics Corp. from October 2015 to January 2019, where they designed automotive interior lighting systems for major automotive manufacturers. Before that, they served as the Aftermarket Director at Rotomaster from January 2015 to August 2015, developing and building aftermarket turbochargers. Nick also worked as a Manufacturing Manager at OceanWorks International from November 2012 to October 2014, overseeing production for subsea engineering products. Furthermore, they have experience as an Engineering R&D Design Consultant at Husqvarna Group from June 2006 to May 2012, as a Subsea Engineering Design Consultant at Technip from April 2005 to April 2006, and as an Engineering R&D Design Consultant at Flymo from February 2004 to April 2005. Additionally, they worked as a Design Consultant at TRANSBUS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED from March 2003 to February 2004 and as a Manufacturing Engineer at PCW Motorsport Race Trailers from August 2002 to March 2003.

Nick Downes began their education at Acomb Secondary Modern School in York, where they attended from 1976 to 1981. Nick then went on to study at British Rail Engineering from 1981 to 1985. Following this, they enrolled at York College of Arts and Technology, obtaining a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical and Production Engineering between 1981 and 1993. Nick later attended ENTRA - Engineering Training Authority, specializing in Manufacturing Engineering from 1993 to 1995, and Industrial Engineering from 1995 to 1997.
