Ryan Wolcott is an experienced engineer specializing in autonomy and perception systems. Currently serving as the Droid Autonomy Lead at Zipline since May 2022, Ryan leads the autonomy stack for a drone delivery robot, overseeing the architecture and team development to bring the product to market. Prior to this role, Ryan held multiple positions at Toyota Research Institute from July 2016 to April 2022, including Lead Autonomy Engineer and Director of Perception, where responsibilities encompassed overseeing the entire autonomy stack as well as perception metrics and localization. Ryan also led efforts on vision-only mapping stacks and developed calibration and localization systems while working at Ford Motor Company and the United States Department of Defense. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, both from the University of Michigan.
