A warehouse lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a warehouse, including supervising staff, managing inventory levels, ensuring order fulfillment accuracy, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating shipping and receiving activities, effectively leading a team to achieve efficient warehouse operations while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities of a warehouse lead:
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and train warehouse staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance to ensure productivity goals are met.
- Provide coaching and feedback to team members to improve skills and address performance issues.
- Foster a positive and safe work environment by enforcing company safety regulations.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels, conducting regular stock checks to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and optimize storage space.
- Forecast inventory needs and coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Order Fulfillment:
- Process customer orders efficiently by picking, packing, and labeling items according to specifications.
- Ensure accurate order fulfillment by double-checking details and addressing any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with shipping department to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Shipping and Receiving:
- Oversee the receiving process, inspecting incoming shipments for damage and verifying quantities against purchase orders.
- Manage outgoing shipments, preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with carriers.
