Philippe Burlina

Philippe Burlina is a highly experienced professional in the fields of computer vision, machine perception, and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead at Zoox since May 2022, Burlina also contributes to The Johns Hopkins University as an Associate Research Professor and Joint Faculty in the Department of Computer Science and School of Medicine, respectively, focusing on healthcare AI and medical imaging applications. Previous roles include Principal Scientist and Project Manager at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where Burlina led AI and machine learning projects, and Director of Software Development at FileNet (now IBM), overseeing teams in enterprise-grade software development. With a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a strong educational background in computer science, Burlina has demonstrated leadership and technical expertise throughout a career that spans over two decades.
