Rui Liao

Rui Liao is a highly experienced software engineer with a strong focus on deep learning model optimization and deployment. Currently serving as a Staff Software Engineer at Zoox since November 2023, Rui previously held the position of Senior Staff Software Engineer (Tech Lead/Manager) at Pegasus Technology Holdings, Inc., where responsibilities included leading the Deep Learning Model Optimization and Deployment team. Prior experience includes roles as Principal Software Engineer at Canon Medical Research USA, Co-Founder of Atom Surgery, and several positions at GE Healthcare, where Rui pioneered deep learning inference optimization and developed high-performance computing solutions. Rui holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
