Varun Agrawal

Varun Agrawal is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in robotics and software engineering. Currently serving as a Software Engineering Manager at Zoox since 2021, Varun previously held significant roles at Intuitive Surgical as a Senior Robotics Engineer and at Auris Surgical Robotics as a Staff Robotics Engineer, where expertise in algorithm development and system design for flexible endoscopy robotic systems was demonstrated. Earlier career highlights include leading algorithm development for a hemodynamic monitor as Principal Engineer and Senior Research Engineer at Retia Medical, as well as advanced control algorithm design for surgical robots during doctoral studies as a Research Assistant at Purdue University. Varun also contributed as Vice President of the Purdue Graduate Student Government, representing graduate student interests, and completed a summer internship at GE Global Research focusing on tuning tools and Kalman filter implementations. Varun holds a PhD in Robotics and Controls from Purdue University and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
