Berta Rodriguez-Hervas, a seasoned expert in artificial intelligence and machine learning, has joined Pfizer as Chief AI & Analytics Officer. Announced via a LinkedIn post, Rodriguez-Hervas will also serve as co-chair of Pfizer’s AI Council, bringing her extensive experience in AI and analytics to the pharmaceutical giant.
Rodriguez-Hervas’s appointment highlights the growing focus on AI within the pharmaceutical industry. With more than a decade of experience in AI, machine learning, and analytics, she is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Pfizer’s AI capabilities. Lidia Fonseca, Pfizer’s Chief Digital and Technology Officer, expressed confidence in Rodriguez-Hervas’s ability to elevate the company’s AI strategies, citing her proven track record of rapidly developing and scaling AI solutions in global organizations.
Before joining Pfizer, Rodriguez-Hervas was Vice President of Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, and Machine Learning Operations at Stellantis, an automotive company. There, she was responsible for designing and implementing strategies for the next generation of autonomous vehicles. Her expertise in AI is also demonstrated by her previous roles as a Senior Software Engineering Manager and Principal Scientist at NVIDIA, where she focused on computer vision and deep learning, and as a Machine Learning Manager at Tesla, where she contributed to advancements in Autopilot Computer Vision.
Rodriguez-Hervas’s diverse background in AI across various industries, including automotive and technology, positions her well to lead Pfizer’s AI initiatives. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso, further solidifying her strong technical foundation.
In her new role, Rodriguez-Hervas is excited about the opportunity to align her vision with that of Pfizer’s leadership. She believes that the company’s commitment to AI will significantly impact patients' lives by accelerating breakthroughs in medicine and healthcare.
