Disney Names Company Vet as First-Ever Social Responsibility Leader
The Walt Disney Company has named Jenny Cohen, a 23-year company veteran, as its first-ever EVP of Social Responsibility.

The Walt Disney Company has named Jenny Cohen, a 23-year company veteran, as its EVP of Social Responsibility. In the newly created position, Cohen will report directly to CEO Bob Chapek and serve as a member of Disney’s CEO Diversity & Inclusion Council.

Cohen will now lead the Company’s global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts. She and her team will work with departments across the company to create and implement initiatives and programs that will benefit the environment as well as Disney’s communities, consumers, and employees.

In a press release, Chapek called Cohen “an extremely talented, strategic and collaborative leader who has helped define not only what the Disney brand represents, but what the brand should stand for, and I am pleased that she will be leading this important work.”

Cohen first joined Disney in 1992 and spent three years as an Analyst in Strategic Planning and New Business Development before leaving to take on various marketing and strategic planning roles at, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Pacific Theaters. The Stanford University and Harvard Business School grad rejoined Disney in 2001 and worked her way up to her most recent position as SVP of Brand, Franchise and Customer Relationship Management. In this role she oversaw all of Disney’s brands and major character franchises, as well as its customer loyalty strategies and programs.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and thrilled to lead the Company’s efforts to further activate our brands and businesses as a force for good in our communities,” Cohen said. “Social responsibility is an integral part of our DNA at Disney, and I look forward to partnering with leaders from across our businesses as we strive to use our unique global platform and resources to drive the greatest impact.”

Her work as the company’s first senior exec devoted solely to social responsibility will build on Disney’s already wide portfolio of efforts including its employee-based Disney VoluntEARS program, the Disney Conservation Fund, investments in youth programs to advance STEM education and the arts, as well as its ambitious environmental goals for 2030.
