Headspace has hired Jodi Bryant as the digital mental health service’s first Chief Commercial Officer.
As the head of Headspace’s commercial organization, Bryant will lead the company’s continued efforts to bring its end-to-end platform for leadership training, mindfulness and meditation, coaching, therapy and psychiatry to new corporate clients.
Currently, Headspace’s platform is available to employees at over 3,500 companies and organizations, including Starbucks, Adobe, Delta Air Lines and Paramount.
She will also work with the privately held company’s SVP of Partnerships, Katie DiPerna, to forge closer relationships with healthcare plan providers like Cigna, Blue Shield of California and Accolade.
Bryant brings nearly 30 years of experience leading commercial programs at CVS-owned healthcare and insurance company Aetna, Putnam Investments, Mercer and Citistreet. Most recently, she was the President of Aetna’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO) business.
“It’s never been more evident to me that mental health and wellness must be prioritized in the benefits strategy and go-forward plan of every employer, regardless of size or industry,” Bryant said in the company’s announcement. “I’m thrilled to join Headspace Health to help organizations around the world address the growing mental health needs of their employees, and to ultimately make the workplace a source of strength and support.”
Bryant joins on the heels of Headspace’s merger with teletherapy service Ginger late last year. In January 2022, Headspace struck a deal to acquire Sayana, a startup that leverages AI-powered chat sessions to help users track mood trends and suggest personalized self-care routines.
The headline-grabbing deals have expanded Headspace’s existing lineup of offerings and will likely improve the draw of its services for employers looking to lessen burnout and promote mental health among employees.
Alongside the news of Bryant’s new role, Headspace also announced that it has appointed Dr. Wizdom Powell as Chief Social Impact & Diversity Officer. The expanded role will see Powell lead the company’s diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging programs. She will also spearhead its efforts to improve the service’s adoption and use by non-profit organizations.
Earlier this year, the digital mental health company announced a partnership with youth-focused groups Bring Change to Mind and Peer Health Exchange to provide free Headspace memberships to all U.S. teenagers.
